The Building and Wood Workers Trade Union of Cambodis is requesting solidarity support for the workers at KC Gecin Enterprises who are on strike to protest the repressive actions of the company.
On August 12, 2010, the workers of KC Gecin Enterprise (Cambodia) notified the management that they had formed a union and requested a meeting to negotiate; however, the next day, the management immediately terminated 29 workers who were officers and key members of the union.
This was the second dismissal, as the management had previously fired 25 workers ten days earlier for attending a trade union training. Despite mediattion efforts initiated by the officials from The Ministry of Labour on August 17, the management continues its recalcitrant behaviour. Through security personnel and police, the management is continuing its harassment and intimidations tactics against the workers.
Please send protest letters (sample letter below) to the KC Gecin Enterprises via fax at +855 23 360 638 or via email at kcgecinenterprises@camnet.com.kh and kcge @angkornet.com.kh
